Sheffield Wednesday: Fans react as Prime Minister announces date fans could return to stadiums

It has been hard for supporters since football has returned due to the fact that fans have not been allowed to go to the stadiums to watch games, and many Sheffield Wednesday fans are reacting to the latest update on when they can return to Hillsborough.

The Prime Minister recently spoke in a briefing and announced the Government’s intention to allow fans back into football stadiums in October.

The Owls currently sit 15th in the Championship with two games left to play in what has been a very average season. However Wednesday’s poor record at Hillsborough has seen them pick up only one win since December 22, via Dom Howson, and they have also scored the fewest home goals in the division (18) this season as well as only scoring two first half goals from Garry Monk’s 21 home matches in charge.

Due to this poor record, a lot of the fan base are making light on the Government’s new plans, with one saying ‘how unfortunate’, whilst others cannot wait to get back. It is good to see they can make light of their poor form, but they will be hoping that when they are allowed to return, they will be seeing some better performances in S6.

Here is what they had to say following the tweet:

Everton: Fans slam Ademola Lookman as RB Leipzig are looking to sell him

Loads of Everton fans have been slamming former player Ademola Lookman as news emerged from BILD (via The Gwladys Street) that RB Leipzig are looking to sell him in the upcoming transfer window.

The 22-year old had only joined the German team last summer in a £16.2 million permanent deal having been on an initial loan spell in Germany.

Nevertheless, Lookman has really struggled at Leipzig since arriving for a relatively high transfer fee, as he has yet to register a single goal or an assist having featured in 13 games in all competitions so far in the 2019/20 season, according to Transfermarkt.

Based off of these stats alone, perhaps it is no surprise that his side want to move him on if possible.

His time at Goodison Park was arguably not much better, having scored just four goals and making a mere two assists having played in 48 matches in all competitions across three consecutive campaigns, as per the website.

Maybe it is not a surprise then that these EFC supporters slammed the Englishman on Twitter after reading the news:

Evertonians, should Lookman have been sold? Comment below!

Spurs fans react as Axel Disasi is linked with a move

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked to many defenders since football was postponed, and it’s easy to see why as the futures of Jan Vertonghen and Juan Foyth appear to be in the air.

This week, the north London outfit have been linked with a fresh target in the form of Stade Reims centre-back Axel Disasi and supporters have been reacting to the reports on Twitter.

According to RMC Sport, Spurs are among the clubs keen on clinching the 22-year-old Frenchman this summer and he’s available for just €15m (£13m).

Southampton and arch-rivals Arsenal are also said to hold interest in Diasi following an impressive campaign for the sixth-placed Ligue 1 outfit.

As per WhoScored, the 6 foot 3 colossus has played in 27 matches, averaging 3.6 clearances, 1.2 tackles and 4 long balls per game.

Though, the Spurs faithful appear to be quite torn on Diasi despite the obvious need for defensive reinforcements.

Not only is Vertonghen out of contract and Foyth heading closer to the exit door, but Jose Mourinho’s side possess the worst goals conceded record of any top ten side in the Premier League this term.

Aston Villa fans would love to sign Michy Batshuayi

Despite Aston Villa’s inconsistent start to the 2019/20 campaign – having won just three of their first 12 league games – the newly-promoted side have been able to score more goals than any other team in the bottom six.

But that isn’t stopping these fans from entertaining the possibility of signing a Chelsea striker in January.

Michy Batshuayi, 26, spent time on loan at south London side Crystal Palace in the previous season and notched an impressive five goals.

But so far in the current campaign, the Belgian international has struggled for first-team action – playing just 64 league minutes – owing to manager Frank Lampard’s preference towards emerging youngster Tammy Abraham.

Given the striker’s willingness to move away from his parent club for the benefit of his career – as shown in last season’s loan to Palace – fan account Total Villa has proposed Batshuayi – who Transfermarkt value at £22.5m – as a mid-season swoop, leading to a number of responses from Villa supporters.

Here are some of the best reactions following the tweet profiling Batshuayi’s credentials…

Liverpool: Fans don’t want James Milner to get a new contract after Napoli game

The capture of James Milner on a free transfer back in 2015 should be regarded as a success given his impact in helping the Reds challenge for the league title over the last two seasons as well as featuring in their Champions League win but the veteran midfielder certainly took a lot of flack on social media last night.

Indeed, while the European champions did rescue a result against Napoli after falling behind to a Dries Mertens opener, the former Manchester City ace bore the brunt of criticism for his performance. Handed a 6/10 rating by the Daily Express, he wasn’t a popular man on Twitter despite eventually supplying the assist for Dejan Lovren.

Out of contract at the end of the season, the Telegraph reported back in September that the club had opened talks over a new deal but plenty of supporters online were seemingly against that idea last night.

With that in mind, here’s a closer look at some of the reaction.

Leeds fans finally realise what Patrick Bamford brings to the team

Leeds United fans have been desperate to see Eddie Nketiah play over Patrick Bamford in recent weeks, and on Saturday they got their wish.

Well, kind of, we saw Nketiah subbed on for the former Middlesbrough man in the second half against Sheffield Wednesday.

This was the opportunity to see what the Arsenal loanee was all about as he was given a full half of football playing up front on his own against a playoff candidate.

Unfortunately, it didn’t go as well as many would have imagined it, and after the game the unthinkable happened.

Yes, Leeds fans on Twitter actually stated that the team missed Patrick Bamford once he was subbed off against the Owls.

It’s strange to see the fanbase giving credit to a man they’ve so regularly chastised in the past, but it seems as if they’re finally realising what the 6 foot 1 striker brings to the team.

Man Utd fans react to ex-target Rodrygo’s UCL hat-trick for Real Madrid

When it rains, it pours. Amidst Manchester United’s difficult start to the campaign – they lie in tenth in the Premier League after 11 games – the last thing the club needed was to see a former transfer target absolutely tear the house down in the Champions League.

And Real Madrid starlet Rodrygo did exactly that on Wednesday night. The Daily Mail reported back in 2018 that the Red Devils were making checks on the Brazilian, after the then Santos prodigy became the youngest goal-scorer in the Copa Libertadores.

In the end, the 18-year-old joined Madrid for €45m (£38.7m), and in mid-week, proved exactly why Los Blancos shelled out big-money for a teenager.

The forward scored the perfect hat-trick in the 6-0 thrashing of Galatasaray, including two in the opening seven minutes of the contest at the Santiago Bernabeu.

After seeing Rodrygo sparkle in such stunning fashion, United fans took to Twitter to voice their thoughts on their former target.

Many Red Devils supporters revealed their dismay at missing out on the 18-year-old, whilst some simply appeared to be in awe of what he had achieved.

Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand shares his thoughts on Martial return

Rio Ferdinand has clapped the return of Anthony Martial as Manchester United did the seemingly impossible and scored more than one goal in a game for the first time since the opening match of the season, beating Norwich 3-1 at Carrow Road.Watch Manchester United Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

It’s been fairly dull being a United fan the past couple of months. Hit by a number of injuries in the forward positions and midfield, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has been almost entirely reliant on Marcus Rashford and Daniel James to provide goals and assists, whilst the likes of Paul Pogba – the club’s top scorer last term with 16 to his name – and our man in question have spent time on the sidelines.

According to Statman Dave, United have won 77 per cent of their league games under their Norwegian hero when Martial has started, compared to a very bleak 29 per cent when he hasn’t.

And after the latest win involving Martial, Ferdinand took to Twitter to say something positive about his influence…

Gary McAllister says Leeds can be unstoppable with momentum

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Pundit View series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent quotes from journalists, pundits, players and managers…

Leeds United have started the 2019/20 Championship season in a state of inconsistency which is likely to concern the club’s fanbase, but Gary Mcallister has hinted that they are capable of going all the way if they build up a head of steam.

What’s the word?

Having made over 200 appearances for Leeds across a six-year spell, former midfielder McAllister is well-accustomed to life at Elland Road, and the current assistant manager at Rangers has spoken about his belief that Bielsa’s side can be“unstoppable†if they gather momentum.

The West Yorkshire outfit failed to achieve promotion in Bielsa’s debut season at the club, losing to Frank Lampard’s Derby County in the playoff semi-finals. Yet despite the Argentinian committing to an extended contract with the club for the 2019/20 season, Leeds are currently failing to find the momentum that McAllister has called for in the club’s bid to achieve promotion to the Premier League.

Eerily familiar territory for the Whites

With just one win in their last four games, Bielsa finds his side sitting fifth in the Championship table, just two points from the summit that is currently occupied by West Bromwich Albion. Despite appearing to be destined for promotion in the previous campaign, Leeds were unable to keep pace with Norwich City and Sheffield United, who both charged on to secure automatic promotion to the top-flight.

Bielsa’s side will face crucial games against Birmingham City, Preston North End and Sheffield Wednesday over the next ten days, so what better time to gather up some well needed momentum as the season begins to truly take shape.

Will Leeds reach the Premier League?

With some considerable competition for a place in the Premier League, either via automatic promotion or through the play-offs, the 2019/20 campaign will present a serious challenge to Bielsa’s managerial abilities.

Whilst the club did well to retain the likes of Kalvin Phillips despite strong links to Aston Villa, it will all be in vain if Bielsa’s side cannot achieve promotion.

Given the quality of their squad alongside the fact they sit a mere two points from the top of the Championship table, there can be no doubting that if Leeds can find the momentum that McAllister has referenced, they could finally end their 15-year exile from the top flight.
