Liverpool fans criticise Bobby Duncan’s agent following social media post

[ad_pod ]

Bobby Duncan completed a move to Fiorentina on transfer deadline day and Liverpool fans have reacted heatedly to a social media post from his agent Saif Rubie.

Many have criticised Rubie’s skill as an agent or questioned if he has done what is best for Duncan’s career, given the 18-year-old only joined Liverpool a year ago, and is now on to his third club.

Rubie caused a stir last week when he suggested the Merseyside outfit bullied his player and accused them of mistreatment by indicating they were refusing to sell him for an acceptable price.

Fans had previously looked forward to Duncan’s progression. Not only is he Steven Gerrard’s cousin but he also scored 25 goals in 36 appearances for Liverpool youth last season, a record which allowed him to feature for the first-team in pre-season this summer.

Now, fans have accused his agent of chasing the money, and the reactions below show just how critical of him they have been.

Rangers fans hail Joe Aribo following Europa League goal

[ad_pod ]

Rangers recorded a 2-0 win over Progres Niederkorn on Thursday night to take control of the Europa League second-round qualifying tie.

Joe Aribo and Sheyi Ojo scored the goals for the Scottish champions, who will fancy their chances of finishing the job in Luxembourg.

It will not come as a surprise to learn that the Rangers fans were in high spirits after the match following a decent performance and strong result.

And a number were keen to pay tribute to Aribo, who made the breakthrough in the 20th minute with a super goal.

The 23-year-old left Charlton Athletic at the end of last season before ultimately signing a four-year deal with Steven Gerrard’s team.

Check out what happened when Thogden mixed with some of Montenegro’s craziest ultras in the video below…

Aribo already looks to be making a big impression at Ibrox.

And plenty of Rangers fans took to social media on Thursday night to reveal their overwhelmingly positive views on the midfielder.

Arsenal fans aren’t convinced Nicolas Pepe is what they need

[ad_pod ]

Reports emerged on Friday night suggesting that Arsenal are competing with Napoli for the signature of Nicolas Pepe, the highly talented and coveted Lille winger.

Gianluca Di Marzio broke the news on his website, news which has since been confirmed and expanded upon by ever-reliable BBC journalist David Ornstein, who claims a deal has been agreed for €80m (£71.8m) to be paid in instalments.

The deal would represent Arsenal’s fourth signing of the transfer window, and would be an incredibly exciting deal considering the winger managed to conjure up a sublime total of 22 goals and 11 assists in Ligue 1 last season.

Strangely, though, not all fans are happy about the deal, and many have questioned the signing when the Gunners seem more in need of defensive acquisitions both centrally and at full-back.

It’s not all fans by any means, but not everyone is sharing unbounded enthusiasm about the potential deal for Pepe.

Here’s what some of the Arsenal fans on Twitter had to say in response to Pepe reports…

Everton fans react to Fabian Delph signing

[ad_pod ]It’s finally official – Everton have signed reigning Premier League champion Fabian Delph. He will be joining the Toffees on a three-year deal that runs until the summer of 2022.The highly experienced 29-year-old midfielder arrives with two league winner’s medals around his neck, something that is sure to please those in Merseyside who watched on in horror as their red neighbours nearly eclipsed Delph’s former side last year. And Marco Silva has already incorporated Delph into the squad, as he has joined them at their training camp in Verbier, Switzerland.

Last season, the Englishman played a total of 20 games in all competitions for the Cityzens, with one assist to his name.

He was also a part of the England squad, for which he has won 20 caps, that went all the way to the semi-finals at the 2018 World Cup in Russia.

The fans seem to be happy with this latest acquisition and they made sure to give him a warm welcome on Twitter.

Couldn’t care less: Liverpool fans disregard Philippe Coutinho’s Man Utd rejection

[ad_pod ]

Lots of Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to disregard Philippe Coutinho’s comments about showing respect towards the Reds.

Sky Sports report that the Brazilian international isn’t interested in a move to Manchester United out of respect for his former side Liverpool, who are of course United’s arch rivals.

You can relive Liverpool’s Champions League celebrations in glorious 2D thanks to the guys at 442oons in the video below…

However, the 27-year-old’s gesture hasn’t had the desired effect amongst the Liverpool fans on Twitter – as you can see below.

The Anfield faithful clearly hate the former Inter Milan man’s guts after the manner in which he forced a move away from Merseyside back in January 2018. Coutinho handed in a transfer request in order to push through a move to Barcelona, and also paid £11.5m of his own money to make the move happen.

Some of the supporters here have even referenced the time where Coutinho complained of a back injury and missed a number of games, but was then fine to appear for the Brazil national team – that suspicious incident only worsened his relationship with the fanbase.

After the recent rumours about the playmaker rejecting a move to United surfaced, many Liverpool fans on Twitter aren’t having any of it…

Newcastle fans react to Manchester United interest in Sean Longstaff

[ad_pod ]

Manchester United are keen on a summer move for Newcastle United prospect Sean Longstaff, according to Sky Sports, and Magpies fans have been quick to react on Twitter.

The outlet say he fits the transfer mould for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, with the Old Trafford boss keen on adding young, home-grown talent to his squad that he can develop into trophy winners.

For their part, the Magpies say he is not for sale and have not yet been contacted by the Manchester club about a potential move.

Longstaff burst onto the Newcastle scene this season, making a string of impressive English Premier League appearances between December and February before suffering a season-ending injury.

Coming through the club’s academy system, fans feel he has massive potential and is the kind of player that can be built around in seasons to come.

Loose cannon or vital cog in the Newcastle’s machine? The Magpie Channel think it would be a mistake to sell the player in the video below…

There is nonetheless concern that the decision makers at Newcastle could be tempted to cash in on his talent rather than invest in his future.

These supporters have taken to Twitter this week to share their thoughts on potentially selling the 21-year-old…

Liverpool fans on Twitter knew that rivals would slate them for Salah penalty

Football can be a toxic game at times with the way that rival fans act on social media, and Liverpool fans often have to take it as badly as anyone. Yesterday, though, they knew what was coming after Mo Salah won a penalty against Cardiff they were all bracing themselves for complaints from rival fans over the decision.

The Kopites were expecting all sorts after the decision was made, and with recent claims from rival supporters that their Egyptian ace is a diver and all sorts of other abuse, they knew it was happening again. There was simply nothing that could be done, though, Salah was wrestled to the ground by Sean Morrison and it was as stonewall a penalty as you’ll ever see.

Even without the penalty, the Reds would have won the game 1-0 thanks to Georginio Wijnaldum’s opener. They weren’t about to complain about the penalty shout when it was given and would have been in complete agreement with the referee as he pointed to the spot. James Milner stepped up and did what he does best after the pen was given, and the Reds will be quick to block out abuse from their rivals.

You can read the Kopites’ verdict on the penalty here:

The Reds are all in agreement that the foul on Salah was just that, and will be quick to ignore the rival supporters who argue otherwise.

The Chalkboard: Eze’s sign-off showing indicates he can bounce back from poor QPR season

[ad_pod ]

QPR’s Eberechi Eze is regarded as one of the best young talents the EFL has to offer but, with the Hoops as a whole struggling both on and off the pitch, the starlet has had a difficult campaign. The Nigerian-born star fell out of favour in Steve McClaren’s final few weeks in charge and looked apathetic when he did feature.

With McClaren now gone, though, Eze has a clean slate to work with and Josh Scowen expects the youngster to kick on and make a big difference to the team next season; if the number 10’s sign-off showing for the 2018/19 term is anything to go by, he will be able to put the past behind him and continue to fulfil his potential.

On the chalkboard

Midfielder Scowen, who scored the opener in the win over Sheffield Wednesday at the weekend, reserved praise for his teammate after the match, saying:

“Apart from the penalty he had a good game and I think next year he’ll be a big player for us.”

Eze’s attempt from the spot was saved and the missed opportunity nearly came back to bite the R’s, with Michael Hector tucking away his own penalty just three minutes later, although Matt Smith would save his teammate’s blushes in the dying stages with a stunning volley.

As Scowen says though, the skilful midfielder was a constant threat to the Owls and showed real glimpses of the quality that made him one of the hottest properties in the Championship last season.

Making it look Eze

Playing on the right, the 20-year-old always looked to make things happen, completing a joint-season-high six dribbles as well as taking on five shots – his highest number of attempts in a game since New Year’s Day against Aston Villa.

Who are the best away fans in the Championship? Pl>ymaker FC’s Thogden gives his top 10 in the video below…

Eze’s match rating of 7.7 was also his highest since 24th November, when he was awarded an 8.03 for his two assists against Stoke – an indicator of how miserable the second half of the season has been for the Englishman.

Completing 90.3% of his passes, of which two were key, Eze was mostly reliable with the ball although he was dispossessed five times. There is clearly work to be done in some areas of his game, but the four-goal ace at last showed that he can be of use to QPR with his final showing of the season and, if he can keep up that kind of performance, he should meet Scowen’s expectations with ease.
