Tottenham Hotspur: Spurs interested in Cherries ace Callum Wilson amid interest from Premier League rivals

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in signing Callum Wilson from Bournemouth this summer, according to Sky Sports as relayed by Ricky Sacks.

Recent reports revealed Tottenham are leading the race to sign the Cherries ace, although Daniel Levy will face a transfer battle with Premier League rivals Newcastle United and West Ham if he wishes to secure his signature.

After his side finished in the top six on the final day of the campaign, Jose Mourinho is preparing for his first summer window in charge of Spurs as he turns his attention to next season.

Levy has insisted he will not be spending “rivers of money” in the summer so Mourinho has a tough task on his hands as he will have to hunt for bargains, look for free agents and sort out swap deals to improve his squad.

Wilson was widely tipped to move to north London last year as reports suggested Mauricio Pochettino was preparing an £80m swoop for two Bournemouth players. As a move failed to materialise, Mourinho wants to succeed where his predecessor could not, as he is determined to get his man before the start of next season.

The Cherries have rejected any attempts to sign their star striker in the past but they are now in a precarious position as they have been relegated to the Championship.

The England international earns wages worth £110,000-a-week and he may have to take a considerable pay cut if he wants to remain in the Premier League. In comparison, Harry Kane is one of the club’s highest-paid earners with his latest contract earning him £200,000 per week.

Wilson, 28, has struggled for goals this season, as he has only scored eight times in the English top flight, having managed nearly double that total last year.

Will he want to play second fiddle to Kane? That remains to be seen, as this is a problem that has plagued Spurs for several years. Eddie Howe’s side will sell the forward for £20m as they seek to get rid of his salary as soon as possible.

The 26-year-old’s absence showed the Lilywhites lack real depth in the striking department and they must find suitable cover and competition for their talisman at all costs.

Everton: Fans drool over contract news as Hayley Raso signs new deal

Plenty of Everton fans have been drooling over the latest news that Hayley Raso has signed a new deal with Everton Women that will keep her with the Merseyside club until the summer of 2021, as per the Toffees’ official website.

The 25-year old joined the Blues from Brisbane Roar in last winter’s transfer window but is yet to make her first-team debut because she had been struggling with an injury problem added to the fact that the Women’s Super League was stopped due to the global pandemic outbreak that swept across the footballing world.

Raso began her career at Canberra United in her native Australia before moving to Brisbane Roar in 2013, and she has also played in the United States of America with Portland Thorns.

The winger made her senior international debut at just 17 years of age and featured heavily for her country in the 2019 Women’s World Cup, where she helped the Matildas make it into the round of 16.

These EFC supporters drooled over the news on Twitter, as they hope that Raso will play a key part next season:

Newcastle fans react to Steve Bruce being kept in the dark

It appears that Mike Ashley’s tenure as owner of Newcastle United is going to end exactly how it started. Self-indulgent, a lack of communication and supporters still hating him.

The Greatest Bargains in Premier League history – How much did they cost?

World Class score: 95% | Expert score: 80% | Veteran score: 65% | Intermediate score: 45% | Amateur score: 30% | Try Again: 5%

Luke Edwards of the Daily Telegraph has revealed that current Magpies boss, Steve Bruce, is just as unknowing as the fanbase in regards to the ongoing takeover situation with the 59-year-old having no contact with his soon-to-be departed chief.

And fans have been reacting to the revelation on Twitter, some taking fire at Ashley whilst some believe the veteran manager knew what he was getting into when taking over from Rafa Benitez.

There have been murmurs that the new Saudi-backed consortium led by Amanda Staveley will try to appoint their own choice of boss, but fresh updates like the one Edwards has given is hardly encouraging for anyone involved.

Bruce has been in charge since the summer and has steered the Magpies to a respectable 13th in the Premier League, some eight points off the relegation zone.

Sunderland fans reject Jack Ross’ claim that his Black Cats team wasn’t negative

In a recent interview with The Times Jack Ross defended his record with Sunderland, stating he didn’t fail at the club and didn’t operate negatively.

Many have been critical of his tenure in the north-east due to perceived negativity from his side, but the fact the Black Cats drew 19 league games last year indicates there may be a bit of truth in those claims.

However, the Scot has labelled it “fake news”, adding that the only time he played for a draw was in an away match at Barnsley, and believes his team’s strong record in coming from behind shows the willingness they had to win games.

It is natural for a manager to defend his actions, but many supporters reject his comments, with several especially highlighting the number of 1-1 draws they had to sit through last term.

Sunderland did score 80 League One goals in 2018/19, though, and since Ross’ departure the team has only nine goals from eight games, which suggests he wasn’t holding them back.

Regardless, fans still believe the right decision was made in letting him go, as these reactions show.

Everton fans hoping Mikel Arteta succeeds Marco Silva

Marco Silva may technically still be in the hot seat at Goodison Park but time appears to be wearing thin.

The pressure has ramped up on the Portuguese coach after a 2-0 defeat against Norwich last weekend and various replacements have already been sounded out.

David Moyes and Eddie Howe are two potential successors, according to Sky Sports. However, Football Insider have claimed that Mikel Arteta is a top contender to take over at Everton. The Mirror have further supplemented those suggestions by saying he is indeed a target.

The 37-year-old has no prior experience of managing a side but he has been learning from one of the best in Pep Guardiola at Manchester City.

Since hanging up his boots, the Spaniard has been the former Barcelona manager’s assistant at the Etihad.

Speculation surrounding a potential swoop for Arteta has been greeted positively by supporters who are keen to see him return to Merseyside.

One fan went as far as saying he’s someone that every Evertonian would want while another made reference to his work under Guardiola.

Other individuals hoped that Arteta would arrive with Tim Cahill as his assistant.

Here’s the best of the reaction from Twitter.

Arsenal fans want Santi Cazorla back after his revealing comments

Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to reveal that they want the club to bring Santi Cazorla back to The Emirates, after the Villarreal midfielder revealed that he never got to say a proper goodbye in an interview with The Independent.

“I never got to say a proper goodbye. It was the biggest team I played for in my career and I miss everything about Arsenal. I don’t know what my legacy is there, you would have to ask the fans, but I want to say thank you to them all. I would like to play at the Emirates one last time before I retire.”

The 34-year-old made 180 appearances for the Gunners – scoring 29 goals and recording 45 assists – although his Arsenal career quickly turned into a nightmare after a dreadful injury which left him unable to play for 636 days – Arsene Wenger described it as the worst injury he had ever seen.

Thankfully for the 79-cap Spain international, he is now back fit and playing with Villarreal, where he has scored five goals and grabbed four assists in 13 La Liga matches this term.

However, his horror injury – in which he literally had to be pieced back together through the use of skin grafts – meant that he could not make a romantic exit from north London, something that is clearly still on his mind following his comments.

After hearing what their former No.19 said, some Arsenal fans on Twitter have revealed that they want Cazorla back at The Emirates.

Let’s take a look at some of the tweets…

Liverpool fans should watch Schalke vs Werder Bremen to see Amine Harit

This article is part of Football FanCast’s In Numbers series, which takes a statistical look at performances, season-long form and reported transfer targets…

This weekend, leagues across Europe will start up again after the two-week international break.

Amongst them is the Bundesliga. This year’s edition of the German top flight is turning out to be a captivating one. Borussia Monchengladbach lead the way by four points, but after that, second and 10th are separated by the same gap.

Schalke are in that group chasing Die Fohle. Die Konigsblauen currently have 19 points, and are just two away from RB Leipzig in second. On Saturday, they will face Werder Bremen at the Weserstadion as they look to continue their good start to the campaign.

Other than the fact it has the potential to be a thrilling game, it is the perfect chance for Liverpool fans to see one of their transfer targets in action. Morocco international Amine Harit has been linked with a move to Anfield, and against Die Werderaner, he should have the possibility to show off his offensive ability.

It has been a magnificent start to the campaign for the 22-year-old. Much like the rest of the team, the former Nantes man has benefited from David Wagner’s influence. So far this season, he has scored five goals and provided two assists in the German top tier. That leaves him with seven goal contributions overall, which is his highest return in any league campaign of his to date.

Even in just a few months since the former Huddersfield boss arrived, Harit has seen considerable improvements to his game. Via WhoScored, he has 1.4 shots per game compared to 0.7 last term, 1.8 key passes compared with 1.2, as well as 2.2 dribbles compared to two. Not only that, he has won more fouls – 3.5 per outing to 2.8.

Under Wagner, Schalke have increased their average possession by just under 5% from 46.9% last term, and they will be hoping to take advantage of a Bremen team that is currently struggling. Florian Kohlfeldt’s team have not won in seven league games, and have conceded 24 goals. Only two teams have shipped more in the Bundesliga.

That is partly down to an unsettled backline. Omer Toprak, Niklas Moisander, Milos Veljkovic, Christian Groß, Theodore Gebre Selassie, Sebastian Langkamp and Marco Friedl have all lined up at some point at the heart of the defence. This uncertainty will encourage Schalke, and Harit will look to be at the centre of their attacking play.

With a market value of £14.4m, he could end up being something of a steal. Against Bremen on Saturday, Liverpool fans should tune in to see the youngster show just what all the fuss is about.

Leicester need to start using their fringe players more

This article is part of Football FanCast’s Pundit View series, which provides opinion and analysis on recent quotes from journalists, pundits, players and managers…

Have they done enough?

That will be the question that will be answered when Brendan Rodgers names his side to face Crystal Palace on Sunday, because after their display against Burton Albion on Tuesday, there will be a couple of names banging on the manager’s door that wouldn’t usually be.

What’s been said?

Speaking on Quest’s Carabao Cup highlight’s show on Wednesday night, former Premier League striker Bent was asked by host Colin Murray to name his star players from the side’s performance.

In response, he picked out Belgian midfielder Youri Tielemans and also took the opportunity to praise Demarai Gray, which may come as a bit of a shock to the fans, especially when you consider the amount of stick he got after his display.

Host Murray then briefly talked about Kelechi Iheanacho and his performance on the night, describing him as “the forgotten manâ€.

Going to be a team effort

It’s interesting that those players should be the ones that get the majority of the praise from Murray and Bent, because two of them can easily be described as ‘fringe’ players in the squad setup.

Gray has only managed 147 minutes of league action so far this season with Iheanacho failing to get an appearance in the league (both from Transfermarkt).

This is something that we touched on with Iheanacho earlier this week, in that there are a number of players, with the Nigerian the best example, that clearly have a lot to offer the Foxes, but as the statistics show they just aren’t being utilised incredibly well.

If Leicester City are going to keep performing the way that people like Bent think they can, it is going to take an effort from the rest of the team, and displays like that on Tuesday night should really give players a platform to make a push for league places.

After all, Iheanacho rose from the shadows to score what is now a rare goal for the forward. Who knows what he could achieve with more chances?

Leicester have some good players, but what really tests a team through a season is strength in depth. If they are just being made to sit on the bench with the odd cup game here and there, their fitness levels if and when they get called upon might not be up to scratch.

A lack of match action will only decrease their performances levels too.

Barcelona lineup Ernesto Valverde should use against Real Valladolid

Both Barcelona and Real Madrid enjoy a short break over the weekend after El Clasico was postponed to a later date.

But now, La Liga returns in mid-week as the Blaugrana will welcome Real Valladolid at the Camp Nou this Tuesday night.

Ernesto Valverde should have his troops well rested and ready to fire on all cylinders but since they are now playing catch-up, there should be no margin for error anymore.

The team is still facing a couple of injuries and suspensions that could force the coach into some decisions but overall, most of his big guns should be available come Tuesday night.

But taking everyone’s form and absences into consideration, here’s what we think Barcelona’s starting XI should look like against Real Valladolid, with Valverde making two changes from the team that beat Slavia Prague last time out.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been one of Barcelona’s standout performers throughout the ongoing season. Just recently, he was once again their hero in the game against Slavia Prague, tallying a total of eight saves on the night to preserve Blaugrana’s lead and secure the three points.

His position in the team is definitely not under threat.

The same can be said for the backline, although possibly for different reasons. Barcelona have been shaky in defence apart from Ter Stegen but Gerard Pique and Clement Lenglet are currently two of their best options at the centre-back position, especially with Samuel Umtiti experiencing some fitness issues again.

Watch Lionel Messi and Gareth Bale answer the internet’s weirdest questions in the video below…

Sergi Roberto has received a knock in the last game and even if he makes it back, it’s unlikely Valverde will start him from the get-go, nor should he, and for that reason we’re putting Nelson Semedo there instead.

Jordi Alba has been sorely missed on the opposite side and his influence should give Barcelona that extra edge moving forward.

In the middle of the pitch, Arthur Melo and Frenkie de Jong are standard picks and by this point, they have already cemented their place in the lineup.

But the same can’t really be said for Sergio Busquets, who’s seemingly experiencing a dip in form or is just gradually getting past his prime. For that reason, and considering how he’s always been effective when called upon, Arturo Vidal should get the nod in front of the experienced Spaniard.

In that case, Vidal takes up a spot further up the pitch and De Jong drops deeper into the defensive-midfielder position.

Up front, Lionel Messi and Antoine Griezmann should remain in the lineup, the Argentine in his natural position on the right and the Frenchman as the team’s centre-forward instead of Luis Suarez.

The Uruguayan has been sub-par for the majority of the season and his form continues to be a problem for the team.

Ansu Fati, on the other hand, hasn’t seen any action since the game against Villarreal on matchday six.

He’s aching for some minutes and just by dropping Suarez and slotting the 16-year-old prodigy in the lineup instead of him, Barcelona have a win-win scenario – Suarez is rested until he regains his form and Fati can get a valuable chance to shine.

Considering that Ousmane Dembele is still serving his suspension, the youngster is the perfect choice in this situation.

Leeds captain Liam Cooper tweets as club celebrate 100th birthday

Thursday marked 100 years since the formation of Leeds United. The Yorkshire club have accomplished a lot in that 100 year period, with the Whites winning multiple league titles, FA Cups and reaching a European Cup final.Watch Leeds United Live Streams With StreamFootball.tv Below

While they may no longer be mixing it up with the biggest teams in the world on the European stage, their current crop of players are no less passionate than those who came before them, and Liam Cooper’s tweet on the special day for the club perfectly encapsulates what Leeds United are all about.

Cooper knows that it’s not all been plain sailing for United throughout their history, but he’s well aware of the values that make Leeds one of the country’s most passionately supported clubs.

The Scotland international states that there have been ups and downs, but he says that everyone is always together throughout the good and the bad.

With the Elland Road faithful being one of the most intense fanbases in the country, you have to agree with Cooper’s sentiment here, and throughout the rollercoaster ride that has been the 100 years of Leeds United one thing that hasn’t changed is the support from the stands.
