At 37, Haddin’s hunger for this assignment is undimmed, and others will have to take shortcuts to success at risk of his wrath.”From an Australian cricket point of view, we haven’t had success in England for a long time,” Haddin said. “No matter where you’re ranked … the theatre and everything behind an Ashes campaign and the pressures that I feel are totally different.”You get off on it a bit, an Ashes campaign. They are so different. I’ve never had the privilege of holding the urn up over there [in England]. That would be a dream for not only me but this group. We’ve come a long way as a team over the last 12 to 18 months – one way you can see that is the way we’re starting to field. You can see everyone is wanting to play for each other. I’d love to hold the urn up over there.”Back in 2005, Haddin sported a blond-tipped hairstyle that had Shane Warne dubbing him “Rockin Rod Stewart”, and made the most of his free time as reserve gloveman to Adam Gilchrist. This time around it is Peter Nevill working as the shadow man, although his attitude is a little more earnest than the brazen ways of a twenty-something Haddin.”He carries my bag,” Haddin quipped. “No, on long tours, it can be hard for the guys not playing. But the sign of a truly good touring party is the stuff that a lot of people don’t see away from the cricket field. The little things they do to help us prepare and the extra training they do away from everyone to make sure they’re right to play. I’ve been in that position a number of times. It’s the best time of your life, actually – no pressure. No, I think everyone is seeing now what sort of person he is. It’s been great to have him round.”I’ve seen Nev since he came to New South Wales. His work ethic and attention to detail is outstanding. He’s just like anyone in the tradition of Australian wicketkeepers. He works hard, he wants to get better. What I’ve been most impressed with around this group is he’s willing to do all those jobs that don’t get noticed by everyone on the outside. I’m really looking forward to working with him over the next three months and just continue the work we’ve done.”He’s very good for me, also. He’s seen a lot of my keeping so he can pick up little things if my technique’s changing – he’s got a pretty good eye for that. We work well together. he deserves the opportunity just through sheer weight of numbers and the performances he’s put on the board for NSW. He’s got here the old-fashioned way, just on results.”Haddin’s mere presence in the West Indies is a reminder of how his life has changed, and how far he has come over the past three years. In 2012, he had been in the Caribbean for less than a week when a bad prognosis for his daughter Mia forced Haddin home to a world utterly devoid of cricket. While focused on his daughter’s help he stopped thinking about the game, and admits he would have been content with his lot had he not returned.”When I left the game, it wasn’t about cricket,” he said. “Once I was able to get back to play, I never doubted I could get back to this level. My only doubt was whether I was able to get back to play the game. With my family circumstances I wasn’t 100% that was going to happen and I was comfortable with that.”I was happy my career was over then because we had different things in our lives that we had to worry about. Once I got back to playing cricket, I never doubted I’d get back to this level. If that was the case, I would have never played for NSW. I wouldn’t stand in the way of say a young Peter Nevill if my time was done for Australia.”Cricket’s been great to me and my family. I’ve had a great journey. I’ve enjoyed every moment of it, even the good days and the bad days. I’ve had an absolute ball. I wasn’t really thinking about cricket then. It was about making sure everything was right at home. If circumstances allowed me to get back to play the game, then I was going to come back.”As for life beyond the Ashes, Haddin has not given it much thought. His ODI retirement emerged in the aftermath of World Cup celebrations, and it is possible to form the impression that a victorious Ashes campaign might sate his hunger for the long tours and hard training sessions that are required to continue playing for his country.”I know there’s speculation with the age I am,” he said. “I haven’t really sat down and had a really good think about it. I’m enjoying my cricket where it’s at at the moment. We’ve got a massive campaign coming up after this with the Ashes. You can’t have any clouded views on ‘I might finish here’ or anything clouding your thought process going into a campaign like that.”You’ve got to give it the respect it deserves. A series like that is as big as you get. The hype and the theatre around that whole campaign, I wouldn’t do myself justice or my teammates justice if I was thinking about anything else.”For now, the urn is all that’s on Haddin’s mind.

George Dobell29-Jun-2015Glenn McGrath believes Mitchell Johnson “has to play” the first Test of the Investec Ashes series and that he can “reopen the scars” he inflicted on England during the last series in Australia.Remarkable it may be to those who witnessed Johnson destroy England in Australia barely 18-months ago – when he claimed 37 wickets in the five Tests at an average of 13.97 – his place in the team for the first Test in Cardiff was suggested to be not entirely secure in the early stages of the tour.Equally remarkably for those who saw the high standards reached by Ryan Harris in recent Ashes series, he is likely to struggle to make the first Test XI after missing the West Indies tour. Nothing better illustrates Australia’s fast bowling strength.But, as far as McGrath is concerned, Johnson is a “lethal” bowler and “can’t be left out”. Not only does he feel Johnson has developed into a more dangerous bowler than the one who has rarely fired on previous Ashes tours, but he thinks the psychological damage inflicted by Johnson in Australia gives him an advantage.”The way he finished that last series in Australia was incredible,” McGrath said. “He was player of the series without a doubt.”There will be a lot of scars from that and if Johnson can get off to a good start here it will just reopen those scars. He will just power through.”The first Test is a big game. If Johnson can have a good game and intimidate he is going to be lethal.”They can’t leave him out. Just because of the way he dominated in the last series and the way he bowled with good heat against Kent. If he starts the series well he won’t stop.”He hits the seam and if he hits the seam he is going to be very effective. When he came here last time his arm was lower and he wasn’t hitting it so much.”If he does well it will have a big effect on the rest of the team. It will really lift everyone. Test cricket is a psychological game and if you start well you go from strength to strength.”‘I think everyone expects me to make a 5-0 prediction and I’ve dug a hole for myself over the years. While McGrath remains an admirer of Harris, he suspects Australia will go into the first Test with Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazelwood as the first choice seamers and said he would prefer Shane Watson to Mitchell Marsh in the allrounder position.”Harris is a quality player,” he said. “But you don’t want to leave out either Starc or Hazlewood and you have got to play Mitchell Johnson. So maybe they leave Rhino out.”Hazlewood will enjoy the English conditions. I loved playing here with the Dukes ball. I think I averaged two wickets a Test more than elsewhere. He is the type of bowler who hits the deck and can swing the ball and he does it from a high action. I think he will really enjoy it.”And I’ve always liked Watson. I think he has so much potential. He’ll get given the opportunity to start and I want to see him go out there and perform.”McGrath predicting a whitewash has become a familiar pre-Ashes ritual. And he has not disappointed this time, either, though he did offer a few caveats. “When we came over here and we were playing pretty well there was never a 5-0 series win,” he said. “But this could always be the first. I think everyone expects me to make a 5-0 prediction and I’ve dug a hole for myself over the years. If I say anything else they’ll think I’m not confident.”But what may be more surprising is his suggestion that there should be a crackdown on sledging; at junior level at least. While insisting that the media tended to overplay the amount of verbal abuse occurring in Ashes series, he did concede that the behaviour of international sportsmen is often mimicked in clubs and playgrounds.”To see kids sledging is totally wrong and should not be allowed,” he said. “Unfortunately kids do copy what they see on TV. Sportsmen have a role to play as role models.”But if I’m sitting there blaming someone on TV or sportsman for the way my children are playing then I’m not accepting responsibility and think that’s pretty poor. For me as a parent I’m the role model for that child and the way they play the sport – have to take responsibility.”It should never get personal or abusive. I didn’t have any chat until I was well into my first-class career.”But to be No. 1 you have to play hard. That isn’t necessarily sledging. It’s as much about body language than what you say. I don’t want to see a bunch of robots and a bowler clapping a batsman after he’s been hit for four and saying good shot. Just play it hard and tough. That is why the umpires are there and the match referee is there.”

Ao mesmo tempo, há o aumento da dívida, que está em R$ 414 milhões, aproximadamente R$ 144 milhões a mais do que em dezembro de 2018. A indicação é de que será preciso vender jogadores.

De acordo com o documento, não ter conseguido arrecadação suficiente com a venda de atletas e somar eliminações precoces causaram esse buraco financeiro nesses meses. A previsão era faturar em torno de R$ 120 milhões, enquanto só foram obtidos aproximadamente R$ 70 milhões, ou seja, R$ 50 milhões a menos do que foi orçado no início do exercício.

“O planejamento é readequar o elenco de atletas no sentido de reduzir custos e prover receitas suficientes, substancialmente com a negociação de direitos federativos de atletas profissionais e com melhor desempenho esportivo da equipe de futebol, para manter o custeio mensal do futebol profissional e reduzir o endividamento geral do Clube, objetivando os patamares previstos na proposta orçamentária aprovada pelo Conselho Deliberativo”, diz o relatório.

A venda de Morato para o Benfica, no valor de R$ 27 milhões, ainda não foi incluída nesse relatório, o que acontecerá nos próximos. Esse buraco poderia ser coberto no meio do ano, quando o Tricolor recusou uma proposta de R$ 83 milhões do Manchester City, da Inglaterra, por Antony. Foi priorizado o campo e ainda houve o investimento em contratações caras como Alexandre Pato e Daniel Alves, que ainda terão aumentos no vencimentos a partir de 2020.

Além disso, a expectativa de arrecadação com direitos de transmissão de TV era bem maior do que foi conquistada em campo. Com as eliminações precoces na Copa Libertadores e na Copa do Brasil, os números não foram atingidos. A previsão era de R$ 118,5 milhões, mas só foram arrecadados até aqui pouco mais de R$ 65 milhões, ou seja, R$ 53 milhões a menos do que o orçado.

No entanto, esse rombo com direitos de TV pode ser amenizado neste fim de ano, dependendo da posição alcançada no Campeonato Brasileiro. Vale ressaltar que com o novo método de negociação, a maior parte do dinheiro entra para as contas do clube a partir do mês de julho, o que ajuda a provocar a variação negativa nesse aspecto apresentado no relatório.

Somando toda a arrecadação prevista (R$ 354.978.000,00) e comparando com a que foi realizada até agosto (R$237.768.000,00), a diferença é bastante significativa: R$ 117.209.000,00. Esse orçamento parece até mais fora da realidade quando pegamos as despesas (R$ 314.309.000,00), que ficaram abaixo do valor previsto (R$ 314.951.000,00), mas estão longe de serem cobertas pelas receitas R$ 237.968.000,00), daí o déficit de R$ 76.541.000,00 nos primeiros oito meses de 2019.

Como se não bastasse o déficit deste ano, o São Paulo também vê a dívida do clube aumentar de forma preocupante desde dezembro do ano passado. Em 2018 o clube fechou com endividamento de R$ 270.380.000,00. Até agosto deste ano o valor subiu para R$ 414.428.000,00. Vale lembrar que o clube teve alguns episódios de atraso salarial durante a temporada.

Um dos aspectos que influenciaram nesse aumento foi a procura por dinheiro no mercado com instituições financeiras. De dezembro de 2018 até agosto de 2019, o clube pegou emprestado R$ 38,7 milhões. Além disso, somente com entidades, terceiros e intermediários o clube gastou R$ 56,7 milhões em oito meses. Já com obrigações empregatícias os custos passaram de R$ 19,7 milhões no fim do ano para R$ 43,7 em agosto, variou quase R$ 24 milhões.

Nesta semana o presidente do Tricolor, Carlos Augusto de Barros e Silva, o Leco, completou quatro anos de mandato. No fim de 2020 há uma nova eleição no clube, em que o atual mandatário não poderá concorrer, o que fará com que os bastidores fiquem ainda mais em ebulição internamente.

Entretanto, aguardo ser notificado oficialmente sobre os termos e condições do meu retorno – publicou o vice.

West Indies have picked uncapped opening batsman Evin Lewis to replace Lendl Simmons for the World T20 in India. Simmons was ruled out of the tournament last week due to a back injury.Lewis, 24, has been in good form recently, in domestic matches for Trinidad & Tobago. He scored 221 runs in six matches for T&T in the Nagico Super 50 tournament, including one century and a fifty. In five matches of the WICB Regional 4-day Tournament, he has scored 442 runs at an average of 49.11, including a century and three fifties. His overall T20 record stands at 1044 runs in 34 innings at an average of 31.63.”It’s a great feeling and dream come true, to know that my hard work in recent months is paying off and has been recognized by selectors,” Lewis told . “I was surprised at the call-up, but at the same time very happy.”If I get the chance to play I would be thankful, but at the same time I could learn a lot from just being at this tournament and in the presence of some of the top West Indies and international players,” he said.Simmons was the fourth player to be ruled out of the West Indies T20 squad, after Sunil Narine, Kieron Pollard and Darren Bravo had also withdrawn from the team. No setor Leste Superior, as primeiras 1000 terão entrada grátis na Leste Superior e na Norte. Não há obrigatoriedade de estarem vestidas com a camisa do Botafogo e nem de realizar reserva prévia. O acesso será diretamente na catraca.
