Glasgow Rangers will be looking to get back to winning ways this evening when they travel away from Ibrox to take on Dundee United in the Scottish Premiership.

The Light Blues dropped points for the first time under Danny Rohl in the league last weekend with a 0-0 draw against Falkirk, and there will be changes to the starting XI for tonight’s match.

Oliver Antman, as confirmed by the manager in the post above, will be unavailable to retain his place on the wing after suffering a muscle injury in recent days.

As well as the Finland international’s forced absence, Rohl should take attacking midfielder Thelo Aasgaard out of the team after his disappointing display against Falkirk.

That set of statistics paints a very clear picture. He was ineffective at the top end of the pitch for Rohl, in what was a drab goalless draw, and that has been the theme of his season.

His lack of impact on the pitch in the league and across all competitions is why Rohl should drop him from the side tonight to finally unleash the rarely-seen attacking midfielder Lyall Cameron against Dundee United.

He was an unused substitute in the goalless draw with Falkirk at Ibrox, as Rohl opted not to call on him, but he should now be given a chance to show what he can do in Aasgaard’s place as the number ten.

In his pre-match press conference, the Rangers manager said that Cameron has been “patient” and that the youngster needs to be ready to “seize” his chances when it comes, which will hopefully be this evening.

The Light Blues signed the 23-year-old star off the back of his impressive form for Dundee in the Scottish Premiership during the 2024/25 campaign, and that form suggests that he could come in as an even better option than Aasgaard.

Cameron racked up nine goals and five assists in 32 starts for his former club last season, per Sofascore, which shows that he does have the potential to deliver quality on a regular basis at Premiership level.

As you can see in the table above, the Scottish ace was one of the top-performing attacking midfielders in the division, with his ability to both score goals and create chances at an impressive rate.

Yet, Cameron has only played 191 minutes across five appearances in the Premiership for Russell Martin, Stevie Smith, and Rohl combined, per Sofascore, which shows that he has not had much of an opportunity to showcase the best version of himself.

Aasgaard, meanwhile, has been given over 1,000 minutes of game time without being able to deliver goals or assists on a consistent basis for the Light Blues in recent months, with as many goals (one) as red cards (one).

Therefore, Cameron should finally be unleashed this evening to see if he can offer more than the Norwegian flop by producing the kind of performances that he showed for Dundee throughout the 2024/25 season.

In a statement on Friday, USAC said it remains committed to navigating this “challenging” period and will hold elections in line with the timeline agreed upon with the ICC.The statement came after the board filed for bankruptcy on October 1. Calling the suspension “aggressive”, USAC stressed that the financial restructuring was necessary to secure the organisation’s future.USAC’s decision to file for bankruptcy came as a surprise to the ICC as it was after the ICC had moved to suspend the organisation on September 23. The statement on Friday, USAC pointed out, was part of a “series of communications” it would share to explain its decision-making in recent weeks.”The recent suspension of USA Cricket by the International Cricket Council has been one of the most difficult moments in our history,” the statement said. “It has caused uncertainty and disappointment for players, members, volunteers, and supporters. At its annual general meeting in July, the ICC said USAC would continue to be “on notice” but asked the latter to conduct elections within three months and carry out governance reforms.In August, USAC terminated its long-term contract with American Cricket Enterprise (ACE), its principal commercial partner and owner of Major League Cricket (MLC). This was followed by the move to initiate the financial restructuring. ICC chairman Jay Shah had warned USAC, in the suspension letter, to “not take any steps to undermine the ICC or its Normalisation Committee in all aspects of the ICC’s work related to the USA, including the LA28 Olympic Games”.On Friday, USAC said the ICC decision was difficult to comprehend because the ACE termination was taken “to protect integrity and independence rather than to harm it”. USAC chair Venu Pisike reiterated the same, saying the ACE contract was “one-sided” and the stand should not be seen as a “defiance” of ICC. “We chose principle over convenience. Our decisions were driven by the need to safeguard the game’s future, not to surrender its control,” Pisike said. Tensions between USAC and ACE have simmered almost since the two parties signed a 50-year commercial agreement in 2019, which included current chair Pisike. As part of the deal, ACE committed to providing USAC with a minimum of US$1.2 million annually to fund national team contracts, including those of the support staff. However, USAC has since said the deal undervalued the national team’s commercial rights, which it claims are worth over US$5 million per year.In a section titled “Years of strain and commercial overreach”, USAC said it had “operated under immense pressure” from ACE and its ownership group. Despite never managing to create a “balanced, long-form” agreement”, USAC said ACE never met its financial and operational targets while “attempting to control” the organisation’s “governance, operations, and programs”.Despite the divide with ACE, USAC said it tried to comply with the ICC requirement, including the “directive” issued in August (following the ICC’s annual general meeting) to conduct the elections by October 20 this year.USAC also accused ACE of “continuous acts of intimidation and interference” stretching from grassroots cricket to the USAC Board. The statement on Friday alleged that ACE “attempted to pressure” the national selectors “into choosing players aligned with their interests, displacing home-grown talent and threatening participants who sought to participate in non-MLC tournaments”.It also alleged that ACE had “imported” over 100 overseas players “under the guise” of involvement in cricket in the country, but many of those players were left unsupported and there were “promises left unfulfilled”. USAC also alleged that ACE had attempted to influence its board members by promising them team owner or other roles in associated leagues. USAC said it was legally challenging ACE’s conduct.The decision to file for bankruptcy was taken after the USAC Board met on September 30 with nine directors including Pisike in attendance. However, it is learned those four directors – Nadia Gruny, Atul Rai, Arjun Gona and Kuljeet Singh Nijjar – left the meeting in protest, with one saying the members were being “muted” by Pisike before being able to complete what they wanted to say.In a statement on Saturday, ACE blamed the remaining five directors and alleged that they had “hijacked” the USAC Board, which resulted in ICC suspension. “USA Cricket was put on notice by the ICC in July 2024, so they have had plenty of time to address ICC’s legitimate governance concerns,” ACE said. “Five directors appear to have hijacked the Board and refused to comply with the ICC’s and USOPC’s six-step roadmap for reform. Not only have the acts of these five directors resulted in the suspension of USA Cricket by the ICC for clear governance and management failures, they have also placed the organisation in bankruptcy court.”ACE also said the USAC statement issued on Friday was “false” and “inaccurate”. “ACE considers this a thinly veiled attempt to avoid being answerable for their actions in a court of law. ACE strongly refutes all the allegations made in the recent false and inaccurate statement by USAC. USAC continues to show zero regard for the best interests of cricket and its players, and is only motivated by politics and the personal agendas of these five directors.”These developments come even as the ICC has been working closely with the US Olympics and Paralympics Committee (USOPC) to help USAC secure national governing body (NGB) status from USOPC, which is mandatory for all sports that are a part of the LA28 Games. As part of that process, the ICC has sent a six-step “roadmap” to USAC to “restore the integrity and credibility” of the board.The statement on Friday, USAC said, was being issued “not in blame, but in belief, the belief that American cricket can emerge stronger, fairer, and more inclusive”. وقال عن أشرف بن شرقي: “الفضل كله يعود له، بدأت أتحدث مع كل لاعب على حدة، وأن يؤدوا بالطريقة التي تليق بهم، حاولت تدريب بن شرقي على اليمين واليسار، وتطور على مدار الأسابيع الماضية”.

واسترسل: “الأهلي يوجد به قطاع ناشئين جيد يلعب في الفريق الأول؟ هذا واحد من أهداف وجودي هنا، الهدف الأول الفوز بالألقاب، ومساعدة النادي على بناء أفضل الأكاديميات لكي يكونوا متواجدين في الفريق الأول، كان لدينا 6 أو 7 لاعبين صغار، وأول مرة يلعبون مع الفريق الأول، وكانت فرصة أمامهم لكي يظهروا إمكانياتهم”.

وبخصوص عرض برشلونة لحمزة عبد الكريم، وهل سيحصل على الفرصة لكي يخوض هذه التجربة الكبيرة، ورأيه في اللاعب، قال: “لن أتحدث عن مفاوضات ما بين أندية، عاد بعد اللعب مع المنتخب الوطني وشارك أكثر من 35 دقيقة مع الفريق، وهو مستقبل للنادي، والمفاوضات ليست من شأني، ويتخذ القرار في غرف أخرى”.

Nottingham Forest are also in the race for the centre-forward, and a deal could be on the expensive side, with the Italian club potentially set to demand €40m – €50m (£35m – £44m) for his services.

Ideally, Bologna would like to keep hold of the 21-year-old, and they are planning to offer him a bumper new contract in the coming weeks, in order to ward off the interest from elsewhere.

Donyell Malen has proven himself as a solid option at striker this season, scoring seven goals in all competitions, but Villa may still have room to bring in another centre-forward, given that the Dutchman regularly features out wide.

Castro has proven he could be a viable target with some of his displays this season too, having scored five goals in all competitions, two more than Watkins, while he also showcased his ability to create chances last term, leading to high praise from scout Jacek Kulig.

The Argentinian hasn’t been prolific since moving to Bologna, chipping in with 16 goals and 10 assists in 71 outings, but he is still very young, having only turned 21 in September, and Villa should continue to monitor his performances between now and next summer.

تحدّث المغربي جمال السلامي، المدير الفني لمنتخب الأردن، عن المواجهة المرتقبة أمام منتخب السعودية في دور نصف النهائي من بطولة كأس العرب 2025 المقامة حاليًا في قطر.

وقال السلامي خلال المؤتمر الصحفي: “منحنا بعض اللاعبين راحة خلال الفترة الماضية، واليوم هو التحضير النهائي للمواجهة، سنلعب أمام منتخب قوي ومرشح للتأهل ولا يعاني من أي غيابات، بينما لدينا غياب مؤثر، ولأول مرة سنخوض مباراة بدون يزن النعيمات وموسى التعمري معًا، لكننا سندافع عن حظوظنا بكل قوة”.

وواصل: “نعلم أن لدينا بعض النقائص ونعمل على تطويرها، هدفنا الفوز بكأس العرب، ثم تحقيق نتائج إيجابية، والأهم هو الاستمرارية والعمل والصبر والإيمان”.

وتابع: “الطبيب لا يتحمل مسؤولية ما حدث، عند فحص يزن خلال المباراة تبيّن وجود إصابة، لكن لم يكن من الممكن تحديدها في تلك اللحظة، وطلب استبداله، إلا أن اللاعب أصر على استكمال اللقاء، وبعدها تسارعت الأحداث”.

وأضاف: “تجمعني برينارد علاقة طيبة واحترام متبادل، وهو مدرب يستحق كل الاحترام، لكن لكل مدرب أسلوبه الخاص، ومواجهة الغد مهمة جدًا ونعرف جيدًا قوة المنتخب السعودي”.

واستطرد: “أي علاقات طيبة خارج الملعب لا علاقة لها بالمباراة، هناك تعاون وأمور مشتركة بيننا وبين المنتخب السعودي، لكن مباراة الغد ستكون قصة مختلفة، ونعمل من خلالها على صناعة تاريخ جديد”.

واستكمل: “تفكيري منصب بالكامل على مباراة السعودية، سنواجه منتخبًا مميزًا في الدفاع والهجوم وخط الوسط، ويضم لاعبين من الأفضل في آسيا، مثل محمد كنو العائد لمستواه، الأهم الآن هو تجاوز مباراة الغد ثم التفكير فيما بعدها، وكل ما أطلبه هو تحكيم عادل وأن يحصل كل طرف على حقه”.

واختتم: “لا يوجد سر معين، هي رؤية واضحة وخطة وعمل مستمر، مع اهتمام ومتابعة من المسؤولين، لدينا تكوين مهاري وتعليمي جيد، واحترافية عالية أينما تواجدنا، إلى جانب إعلام إيجابي وثقة متبادلة داخل المنظومة”.
