Following this Test, though, Karunaratne was critical of his team-mates’ aggression.”When I say players should be free, I don’t mean that you just hit every ball that you see. It’s about keeping your mind free. If you at any time feel like you should play the reverse-sweep but you stop yourself, your’re restricting yourself. There are times when you can get runs from that shot, and when it’s a safe option. It’s about being relaxed. Freedom doesn’t mean swinging at every ball. It’s about playing with confidence. At times I felt our players really lacked patience. A Test is a very valuable thing, and batsmen should know how to play according to the situation. They should know how to handle that freedom.”It was on day four that New Zealand swung the match definitively in their direction, and on day four that Sri Lanka’s bowlers struggled the most, allowing the opposition to score 186 for the loss of just one wicket in 48 overs.”We got the wickets of the first three batsmen quickly, and I think we thought the other wickets would also come easily,” Karunaratne said. “But they batted really well, and the pitch also dried out a bit, and the moisture that was there disappeared. The 23-year-old has registered nine assists in just 17 league starts, with his dribbling ability and final ball a nightmare for defender, according to Gary O'Neil.

Neto already knows the Premier League well, so he wouldn't have an issue taking time to adjust at Newcastle, and given his age, there should still be so much more to come from him. The Lilywhites are thought to have some big names on their radar, like Barcelona star Raphinha and Wolves winger Pedro Neto, as technical director Johan Lange and the wider recruitment team eye up "quality" fresh attacking options.

“Look, a player they appreciate for a long time is Raphinha from Barcelona. We know the financial situation at Barcelona is not easy, so he could be one of the names. They will look at that kind of player," said Romano to JD Football this week.

Spurs currently have Son Heung-min, Timo Werner, Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson, Manor Solomon and Bryan Gil as their senior wide players, but uncertainty surrounds the futures of the latter two and there's no official guarantee that they will activate the £15m buy option in Werner's Leipzig deal just yet.

As such, Postecoglou and co want a lethal forward option who can slot into the Australian's system and provide that extra bit of cutting edge. While the likes of Neto and Raphinha are some elite options, some lesser-known names have found their way onto Tottenham's transfer target list as well.

One of them, Fenerbache forward Sebastian Szymanski, is a particularly interesting one.

They may not even require that much, as this report suggests that Fenerbache are willing to sell for around £21 million.

The 24-year-old, who can play anywhere across the attacking midfield line, has also been called a "superb" little player by Football Talent Scout Jacek Kulig.
